Still unpacking boxes and trying to re-arrange the basement for modeling purposes. But with a death in the family and people coming to visit for Christmas we have a lot going on, so another picture from the archives.

Pennys L1s with a coal drag taking on water. Picture taken at the Strongsville Model Railroad Club Layout. (Note, no coal load in the tender as I have to come up with a removable coal load so the interior detail does not get ruined.)

By the way Wolf, what is that car?

    Thanks for looking!

    Rick,
I may be way off base, but in the absence of better information, I'm going to guess that's a live poultry car. Nice looking mike, BTW.

My guess would be a see-through car to show how crates and boxes inside would react to improper loading. All the slamming around in the yards and normal slack action in transit.

    Hi Rick,

It's SP's Instruction car. -- AKA - impact car. It showed train crews what happens when cars are switched to fast.

    Russ is correct.

    Thanks,
    Wolf

I can see this happening: why should we not paint it pink?

The 12 Trains of Christmas. On the 12th, we had the Coca~Cola train, and the 11th was a pair of EMD GP30s dressed as D&RGW 3011 and 3010 on a caboose hop.

That TBX car is a memory jogger. When did we first do that? About 2005? long ago!

Well, judging from the car number, I used the decals in 2010. Can't remember how long I had them before that.

I still have my decals from that first adventure, somewhere. Saw them a few months ago.

Can't find my photos right now, but I believe it was mid to late 2005 when the first TBX cars were done and circulated.

I guess I was in the hospital at the time. I don't recall that car at all.

I'm busy again with the ESU sound. It's like an addiction. It is now the 20th locomotive that gets a sound conversion. 20181216_123333.jpg 20181216_174005.jpg
