No time up upload anything new this week so here is one from the oldies file. There seems to be a stalled MoPac freight crossing the Sunset Route track. The Argonaut has stopped on its way into Houston. The engineer and conductor are going to have a chat on the the ground about the holdup.
Happy Holidays, everybody! Weathering of the fleet is progressing on the little Santa Fe Peavine Line. Thx to Randgust, especially, who urged me to get my locos/fleet dirty. That led to ballasting the entire Kato Unitrack railroad (which took about 1/2 year as well). It pays off. Here's some weathered SD24's working the Santa Fe's Peavine Line: Closeup of the trailing unit, SD24 947: Standard Atlas SD24's - weathered with Bragdon Enterprises weathering powders - great product and very fast. Pollyscale Grimy Black on the trucks and fuel tank. Proceeding to weather *everything*. That'll keep me busy for another 1/2 year or so! But along with the ballast, big big improvement: Take care, all.
Just getting started with scenicking. This area has been done early, while still able to get to the portal area to work. Will look much better with some touchup, trees, bushes and the like. The tunnels are not completely covered yet, thus the light. Any suggestions appreciated !
As usual, no modeling from me, but a Moffat Route trip yielded this breathtaking shot of the flatiron locally named 'Mickey Mouse Wall', thru which Tunnel 6 (out of scene, bottom right) bores:
A VERY wide-angled lens is needed to capture a train, AND Mickey Mouse Wall int he same shot.. Here's as wide as I could go, with a WB North Yard-Roper train charging past:
F7 ABBA SSW923 heads for the east end of the yard for a train assigned to El Paso. These are the Pete Nolan Life Like GP20/Bachmann F7 conversions. I like the Cotton Belt F7s with a single headlight. That was unique in the Espee system. This is an oldies file for me, too.
Some fabulous shots by everyone. I'm always happy to see Arizona well represented. It sure feels like Christmas when you see all the Warbonnets! While my newest and first DCC 40BW ran some shakedown miles thru Red Rock Canyon I was able to do a little railfanning. This shot was taken by a friend... ... and she know's to keep a safe distance from the track. I know, I know, it's a little too clean. It won't need a whole lot of weathering though, in my era it will be a "new" engine. [ December 17, 2005, 01:36 PM: Message edited by: BALOU LINE ]
I have had several Atlas GP35's for a while, and hope to get them all detailed someday. While the bodies and paint jobs are really nice, the one thing that bothers me is the front nose emblem. It just looks too big.
This is my first attempt at a new front emblem. I carefully removed the old emblem, and used a decal for the new one.
