I guess I will drag an old one out and get things going here. The Imperial Cotton Gin. I talked to a lady a while ago that had a summer job working in the scale house there. Only she was weighing wagons of vegtables for the cannery down the road. I suppose the town was only big enough for one scale.
Last night the boys were over for a chat and running of some trains. To my dissappointment Gats brought over a Frisco locomotive which I was compelled to run for Charlie lol. Although the unit has been renumbered to BN I am also the proud owner of WP F3's and a California Zephyr set. Will post a couple more pics later in the day.
Can't remember if I posted these here off a few weeks ago when I wuz messin' with the camera. I'll try and snap off some new pics this weekend if I get half a chance. Jon [ October 21, 2005, 08:07 PM: Message edited by: Jon Grant ]
Inspired by Jon Grants B/W shots I decided to try some as well. I aslo was going to try some sepia shots but my batteries went flat on the camera, oh well there is always tomorrow lol. I also thought I'd post this pic of the rear lights, don't they look fantastic Maybe some sepia shots tomorrow. [ October 21, 2005, 09:09 PM: Message edited by: Colonel ]
Well, I finally got enough time to get the camera out. Jeanne and I were busy last weekend and today (Friday.) First we built the N Scale Architect's Creamery. It's part of Harrington Farms. I kinda built it backwards--the one story end should be on the right side of the building, rather than the left. But it worked out just fine, due to its location. Here you see a V0-1000 making the local pickup. To the far right is Harrington's Sawmill While Jeanne was helping me locate parts for the creamery, she also produced two buildings out of parts in the scrap box. I believe they were from the Filene's building; frankly, I'd forgotten anything this size was still around. First is the First National Bank building in the Newbury Street section. It's on the right. It has two "finished" sides, and two photo sides. All the buildings here are Jeanne's, complete with interiors. Here's another of Jeanne's kitbashes. It might be hard to read the signs on the jpegs, but one side is "Jeanne's Critters" and the next is "JG Free's Comics". This little part of downtwon has been long neglected on the model. I got a bit of cobblestone on the loading platforms at lower left. Finally, here's a version of the houses Jeanne and I lived in during our first marriages. It has to be "buried" four feet into the ground to be a split-entry, and I do have to glue a door into the center, but it's a good approximation. We have much, much more to come! Hmmm. Were you authorized to run our equipment? Normally we ask people to complete a small ceremony first. Anyway, finally gave a touch of class to your young hipster layout. Charlie
Thanks Wolfgang. Realising I'd never taken any black and white photos of my British outline 'Double O' layout, Hudson Road, I decided to rectify the omission. Here's some quickly snapped-off piccies without rolling stock of any kind. And a couple of colour ones for good measure Jon
Jon, that's an awesome winter scene! Very realistic looking drifts on the roof. Most MRR winter scenes that I have seen just look so fake, even to the naked eye. Your's looks so real even under the all showing eye of the close up photo it's amazing. I got cold just looking at it!
Hi All, Haven't been around much lately but did manage to check the board today. Very nice pictures everyone, the B&W's look great, the winter shots are timely and the Black Widow SP is pretty cool. Too bad SP is not around to be able to paint one like that. I have not done anything to the layout or added any new inventory but I did snap this shot to post. A little bit of train, trees and siding. Might try for a few more tomorrow if I can but I will be sure to check on the others. Take care and PSG Bob, and all those in the path of Wilma keep your head down or better yet, get out of town. I hear Jerry has a big garage that he might use some help benchwork building.
Chad: That's a very nicely composed photo of action on your layout. I plan to stay around her for awhile Chad. Wilma isn't supposed to hit the east coast of Florida unitl early Monday morning (3:00 AM ) and be long gone by noon time. Thanks for your thoughts... Stay cool and run steam....
Carl how are you doing? Gary and Jim told me about your health.Nice to see your well enough to "play" with trains. Windle
Hey, If you ignore the background cars lying over,it's a nice shot of my custom painted U36-CH. That was the EL/NJDOT scheme.
