Weathering Challenge

    Here is a candidate for a weathering challenge. (I won't be trying it on my N-scale version of this engine because I don't trust myself.) I caught up with this unit yesterday in Rhode Island.

    You can see the damage is on both sides. I am not exactly sure what happened here -- beyond the fact there was a fire. Does anyone know? Anyway, I was surprised to see the handsome Providence and Worcester scheme marred like that. Usually their locomotives are in pretty nice condition and very clean.

    oooh. Nice photos of something no one wants to experience. I would wager that P&W won't leave that engine looking like that for long. I'm a steam nut and don't know one diesel from another, but that looks like an EMD to me, not a GE "toaster."

    i bet you if the fire dept was'nt there as fast that NS loco's doors would
    look just like that Providence loco
