    Nice effort sillystringtheory, well done.
    I like the subtle weathering.
Do the 3 tanks come with the superior paper structure ?

I love the loading dock on that model. Being a truck driver, I always see folding dock ramps and the cushions around the loading doors but I rarely see them modeled. Did that come with the kit?

    Thanks!
The tanks do come with the Superior Paper Co.

I added the dock cushions by making them out of Plastruct.

    Water Street Freight Terminal

With freezing rain falling outside, tonight was a good night to stay in and finish construction of my freight terminal kit. Outside, it's a standard Walthers kit, but I added interior walls and floor to the office building, and a floor to the warehouse, along with some interior detailing and lighting. All that's left to do is plant it on the layout and wire it up to the bus.

    Full structure shot:

Even closer-up showing interior of warehouse (a little blurry, I haven't figured out all the macro settings on my camera):

Tracy McKibben , I agree the picture is a little blurry :plaugh: but don't worry it's looking good.Nicely detailed loading docks.

I have the same kind of details on my micro-layout freight station [IMG]

    Well done Garth,
Is the tractors unloading ramp scratchbuilt or is it included in the Walters kit ?

I posted these in the Weekend Photo Fun thread, but forgot to update this one too. More shots of the freight terminal, fully weathered and detailed, and with proper camera settings this time.

It was a small laser cut kit I picked up and built a few years ago. I can not remember the company name though.

Those sharp pictures really do justice to your work.
Do you weather with washes or pastel chalks ?

It depends on what I'm weathering, and how heavily I want it weathered. On this building, and my fish pier (posted elsewhere), I used white and brown chalk. On my lighthouse, I wanted it to look like a well-kept tourist attraction, so I used acrylic paint, lightly dry-brushing it on. On my triple-span, double-decked bridge, I used a brown wash, which I'll repeat a couple of more times when it's completely finished.

Both your water towers are great, Garth. Love the strawberry. Where did you get the old-timey water tower behind the roundhouse? Or did you scratchbuild it?

I got this one from a friend, he did a great job painting it. I especially like the corner building.
