I ahve heard from a semi-reliable source that Via Rail Canada is testing a SOUNDER F59PHI in the eastern corridor. There have been a few problems with them being geard for a slower speed than the F40 though. I would be interested to see if Via goes forward and purchases any of them. Hmm, Via paint would look really really really bad on them, lol. Can some one say "New paint scheme!"

    Happy Railroading!!

Ya, we have a Sounder here in the shop, the thing about the speed isnt so true, they are clocked for 83mph so erase that. I LOVE THE LOCOMOTIVE...the whisper cab is great, the body and design is very attractive and the smoothness of it compliments the whole thing.
I hope we go ahead and purchase these locomotives, the are much better than the LRC's.

Yes, we still have a fleet of LRC's.
They suck. We are going to retire them when we purchase the new locomotives.
    LRC's are like Lincoln Continentals....
When the are running good, they are amazing...when they are running bad, they are hell.

    They can run? lol.

I have heard from quite a few people, that the locos have caused nothing but trouble, and here is yet another in a long line of people.

The one nice thing about the LRC, is that no one can deny the fact that the LRC cars look like garbage with a F40PH-2. With the LRC as the power, and the LRC cars, it looks great.
