Just got a new Monogram / Revell Static model kit for detail parts. I want some of the articulation piping for my 2-6-8-0 as it need better details as the Mantua chassis and Riv boiler are lacking. Has any one else used the kit for kitbash projects? When I was a teen many years ago I shortened the boiler and and put two TYCO 2-8-0 ( tender drive ) under it and put a gear on the smoke are axle and powered the rear drivers only ,it did have prototypical acidulation , but newer ran right . Sold it in the mid 90s at a swap meet.
I saw an article years ago about using the parts on a Bowser metal kit of the Big Boy. I remember he used the sand dome and several other parts. The best I can remember it was a old MR. The parts really made the difference! Regards, Bobby
What I have used so far is the steam / water lines on the fire box side and the front cylinder swing steam pipes. It make a difference all ready to the appearance having sperate applied detail over the molded in piping. The front cylinder swing steam pipes do not move but still add to the look and fill in the empty looking space under the smoke box. I will post some photo later.
