Does anyone here remember who bought Paul Gibson's used magazine business? I had the name somewhere, and the email he sent out when it was sold, listing their web site. Now I cannot find it. Help?

I finally chased down the information. Railpub was sold to someone in Tennessee. Found their web site. It had zero contact information posted. Really, really strange. After further digging, was able to locate an email. Hoping it works, I sent a message.....

Took all my excess magazines [Trains--Railfan and Railroad--others] and ones that I have replaced with DVD's [N-Scale Magazine] to our NMRA, MCR, Div 8 Train Show and Sale, on Saturday. Gave them out FREE--we had a lot of magazines for everybody. I wasn't the only one, in our division, to think to do this.
After all of this, I have learned that there really is NO market for used magazines. Occasionally somebody will want a specific magazine for reference, but that is about all. When I received my first DVD of past MODEL RAILROADER Magazines, I tried to sell/dispose of, at least 5--7 years of MR in binders. Too heavy to ship, so I basically gave them away just be rid of them.

    Mark-

I was trying to locate a couple of things. One being an issue of N Scale RRing. (Just wanted an article therein. A member here kindly copied and mailed to me!) Rather than buy an issue plus postage. And since I could not find the issue otherwise.

The other, Maine 2 Foot Quarterly was a small publication, but full of very useful modeling and historical info. Much more difficult to locate. Looking for about 15 issues missing to my collection. And one in particular for a certain article. Finding anyone giving these away would be a chore. So far I have found just one of those I am missing.

Came here looking for similar info' and I see from the posts above my suspicion is correct. Very little market, if any market at all. Not surprised. I have bound Model Railroader Mag copies starting from 1984 running through 2009 or '10. Plus about 12 years of mags after that unbound. They are going. Based on the above, I will contact a couple of clubs and see if they want the bound copies. There are 1 or 2 years I may keep just because of a few articles I like. But I have about 30 years worth that will either go to a club or hit the magazine recycle bin at one of our county recycle/trash headquarters.

I also have all of my C&O Historical Magazines I'll trash. I did purchased the DVD from the society before Christmas that is current from the early 80's through 2021. I'll trash those as well.

    Hey Kitbash and all,
For the bound issues, most libraries will gladly take them. It's hit or miss if they will take unbound sets but worth the ask at your local library before sending them to the recycle.

Meanwhile, I am still looking for those Maine 2 Foot Quarterly issues..... I never see anything but a few RMC or MR at shows, etc, etc.

Thanks for the great suggestion BNSF Fan. Had not considered it. We have several county-wide libraries in our area. I will give them a shout as part of my options. I would rather they go to use if possible before I "deep-six" them.

Okay... the "winner" was our local club. Thanks for the suggestions. Loaded them up and hauled them over there earlier today. Wound up keeping over 200 out 900.

Did your house raise up a few inches after taking all those heavy items out of it :) That would be too funny. Glad they were donated to someone that wanted them, and you have NEW space to buy more. Although probably electronic now-a-days :)

Geesh! I have issue #1 to present in many 'legal' type boxes and so far I can not bring myself to dump them. There are not many missing. I guess that dealing with paper vs screen is better to me as it seems to be different holding something in your hands. Because the mag is getting thinner and thinner I almost did NOT renew. Got a card in the mail for $30.something a year ( 3 years ) so I figured .. why not? Whether or not I keep stuff, well: Time will tell.
