A couple of days ago I cane across two tall gondolas with reporting marks I could not find listed. They are REGX and BFTX. Anybody have any info on them? Pictures of both gons are in the Railfan Photos Forum.
try these sites. reporting marks more reporting marks [ May 28, 2005, 03:15 PM: Message edited by: doofus ]
"X" always indicates a private (non-RR company) owner or leaser. There are so many out there today, it seems like the alphabet soup factory blew up. Boxcab E50
REGX = Regus Industries, LLC BFTX = Bill Frank Trucking. This site shows that BFTX owns one bulkhead flatcar (with photo) and no locomotives. Thanks to Google for this information.
Doofus, Thanks for the site suggestions. The first one did not list either mystery reporting mark. I had 50% success at the second site. BFTX was listed as Bill Frank Trucking. There was a picture of a sister car on that site, but it was mis-identified as a bulkhead flat. It carried number 10115. Still looking for REGX.
Pierce - Are you sure the reporting marks were REGX and not RGEX (Royal Gorge Industries, established July 2000) ?
Regus Industries, LLC (REGX) is the largest waste disposal company in the Northeast US (their claim, not mine), doing business out of West Seneca, NY. Furthermore, REGX has a well designed website that is very descriptive of their business activities. REGX Web Site
Bill - You can see a pic of the marks in the Railfan Photos Forum. Hank - Thanks for the update. Mystery solved. Both these gons were on a Housatonic RR train that serves a large refuse collection company in Danbury. [ May 30, 2005, 09:38 AM: Message edited by: Peirce ]
This is a source of very good information which seems to be quite current. http://www.railinc.com/ If you follow the trail Umler - Equipment Information Umler Equipment Statistics finally Umler Monthly Statistics of Private Equipment you will end up in a PDF document which lists Regus Industriies LLC as having 207 picece of rolling stock. I found this an interesting site to browse and have bookmarked it for future reference.
this relates to a question ive been pondering, i saw a loco the other day that looked like bn colors, (green with black top) but it said HCLX on the side. i tried lookin it up unsucessfully. I love these forums... -NUTEY-
-NUTEY- I'll bet the letters were HLCX. Which stand for Helm Financial Corporation. Helm buys, then leases used power. Such as BN units in the green/black paint. Boxcab E50
I'll bet they were HLCX as well, I wasnt quite sure which came first. thanks, I had no idea this kinda thing happened, i guess even in the railroading world you can learn something every day!
