This morning I popped the locomotive in the engine cradel to find the source of the hop. This I did in my workshop so I could use the magnification I use to construct track. I removed the gear plate, you wanna talk about over oil. I have enough oil in this puppy to fry a good size steak. but getting to the point, I removed the rear wheel which the hop was located at. What I've found under the magnif was the traction tire was broken, about a quarter of the wheel the traction tire is literally missing. This is difficult to see under normal viewing circumstances due to the blackening of the drivers and the fact that the TT is recessed in the wheel.. Well I emailed CC to see if they will send one, anyone want to wager what kind of response I'll get? So theres no misunderstanding on how I addressed the CC folks, the email was as follows. Dear CC, Please forward this to dave. After a thorough examination of the 2 10 2 I've found a section of traction tire missing, (broken) this is causing the back wheel to hop. In the interests of customer service could you please send me one. I will address the wheel gauge on my own. Thank you Robert Anchorage Alaska Now I don't believe any of that email could considered rude. I am charging my Nikon batteries for pics on the wheel gauge, hopefully I'll have the energy tomorrow to shoot some pics, (gotta go to work today) Rob
They will probably mail you a traction tyre. I have called the C-C more than once to ask about parts, even being prepared to pay. They have mailed me more than one small part free of charge. They did ask me to pay once-or-twice for larger parts, but this was not in a situation where I was complaining about a defective item. If it was a complaint, they always sent the part free-of-charge. It has been a few years since I called C-C. They were often mildly surly to downright rude, but they always sent me what I wanted. So, you might get back a surly e-Mail, but they will probaly send the traction tyre.
Worthwhile observation, Rob. Nevertheless, I'm locking this thread. It's a continuation of your previous thread, and I'd like to avoid duplication.
