I took last wed off to go fanning with my buddy, Nick. he's got this new Canon G9 that'll take a pic every second, for as long as you want, and make an avi of it. We set it up to point at the UP Bridge 15 in St. Paul. So here it is it's a huge file, so be patient! http://media.diezfamily.us/video/bridge15.avi
so, in the interest of bandwidth, I put this sucker on youtube as well [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rx7qRqIcVWk"]YouTube - UP Bridge 15[/ame] youtube sucked all the good quality from it though, so pretend you're viewing it through a shower door. This one's better: http://www.viddler.com/explore/diezmon/videos/1/
Excellent on You Tube; I liked it. Big SOO line red engine there. Interesting concrete counterbalance on one end of the bridge. I presume that is what that is. I certainly have never seen a bridge built quite like that. Do you have a still photo of the bridge in the open position? Thanks. I'm not sure what the bridge is spanning. Is there a water way behind the piers/pilings? Very good video.
here are some pics of the bridge. and a few more here: 7-16-2008 Directory List It's spanning part of the mississippi in St. Paul. You can see a boat come whipping through at one point in the vid. It's the first location (Bridge 15) in my railfan spots map: Google Maps
