In later years, right before Amtrak, the "City of Everywhere" left Chicago as a very long train but eventually shed some cars for the City of Denver in North Platte. Two coaches were removed from the train and added to a baggage car and a caffe-lounge that were waiting there assigned to the City of Denver making a four car train. For something a little bigger there was the City of Kansas City. At Green River two coaches and a 10-6 sleeper from Los Angeles and one coach from Oakland were cut out of the east bound "Everywhere" and added to a baggage, dormatory lounge and a cafe lounge to make a seven car train.
