I was trying to discover when the UP last used stock cars and came up with this URL from a Google "stock car".

Oh and that Google returns NASCAR too.

I used "define: stock car" as my google criteria. You can find the definition of any english word (actually you get the sites where it is definded) by using in your google search area the "define: word" syntax. Often this returns fewer and better sites if you just put in "stock car"

    Any way passing it along.

Gee, I just read an article in a Trains issue. Was called Fall Stock Extra. Had all kinds of info on stock cars. When used, who built em. What types and who used what last. I'll have to reread when I get home and see if I can answer your question. :D :D

OK, according to the artcle, as of 1987 UP still rostered a few double deckers used for pigs. Most if not all the rest were gone in the early 80's. The only other thing I can find is UP only had 235 50' cars in the 43000 series as of writing in Aug. 87. The last "California Livestock Special" ran July 18, 1984.
    Hope this helps some.
