UP has started there connection to BNSF Chilli Sub at Edelstein, IL. This is going have trains leaving the Global 3 intermodal yard and head west on the Geneva Sub to Neilson where they will head south on the Peoria Sub. Till they get get to Edelstein and then head west on the Chillicothe sub on the BNSF using there trackage rights to Kansas City. I heard Estimates of 6 - 10 trains a day to use this connection. UP already has 4 trains down the Chilli already coming from Chicago.
Is this the area, which had the well known curve? Where I've seen photos that were taken, and video footage? Or am I confusing two different places? Boxcab E50
Edelstein is at the top of that hill which starts down in to the Illinois river valley. That curve is at the base of the hill which about couple miles west of Chillicothe, IL. The UP peoria sub is aboubt a mile west of Edelstien. The UP goes under the Chilli sub there.
