I'm a big Rio Grande fan and those who are not would even recognize the paint schemes they used, but here I will post pictures I found of Rio Grande locomotives painted in a color scheme they were not know for and the pictures are rare and hard to come by. If your railroad painted a loco in a odd or unusual color, post it here. Most of the time locos were painted special for movies or special ocasions. Picture #1 is a Rio Grande EMD model FT in a brown paint scheme Picture #2 is a RIO Grande Alco PA painted special for a movie called "Denver and Rio Grande" a cinematice version of the "Royal Gorge War" in 1952, a EMD model FT was also painted in this same paint scheme for the movie Picture #3 is a Rio Grande model F40PH that was used to pull the ski train Picture #4 is a Union Pacific painted in a Rio Grande heritage paint scheme Picture #5 is a Ex-Conrail EMD model GP-40 that Rio Grande bought used and changed the cab numbers on and ran them like this until they had time to repain them
Another DRGW addition here is another photo, at a quick glace it looks just like a normal southern pacific locomotive, but it's not. Rio Grande merged with Southern Pacific in the early 80's, this loco was originally painted in the Rio Grande paint scheme, like many others, it was repainted to Southern Pacific after the merger, the original rio grande numbers were kept and you will notice the letters DRGW under the cab numbers
