Having never used "Unitrack" before, I am a bit unsure as to how to proceed in track laying.............do #6 turnouts need to be insulated when used in cross-overs?? Any other tips/tricks about laying this track??

Jim, I can't remember if you decided to go DCC or DC on the layout. For DCC, no, they do not need to be insulated. For DC, it depends on whether you are trying for some form of block control (separate throttles for the inside and outside loops).

The only item on your layout that REQUIRES isolation is the reversing section, caused by the diagonal dual-siding through the upper loop. There are two possible places to do the reversing (and I now only speak of DCC auto-reversing): that inner diagonal, or the inner track on the left-hand loop. I've highlighted the two options, below

I plan to use DCC.......I started out thinking DC, but decided that since the wiring will be the most taxing for me with my disability, I will just go DCC & make it easier.
I plan to isolate both rails of both tracks of that diagonal part, as it's going to be "loads in, empties out". (There is a backdrop down the center of that rectangular part that runs length-wise)
