As I was coming home for lunch today, a BNSF freight was moving north through town. I paused to watch it go past and saw not one but two Frisco boxcars coupled back to back in the train! They were Joe Schlitz cars. It did me a world of good to see two Frisco shields back to back again after all these years.

It always makes my day when I see one of my old railroads rolling stock. Funny that you see more ex ROCK than you do Frisco. The cars I usally see are the insulated box cars we usally shipped cambells soup in and c-6 covered hoppers. I wonder if the BN-BNSF people had it in for the Frisco or what but it sure seems that they have tried to paint over or scrap anything stenciled SLSF. I thought that maybe it was just me here in the Northwest but my brother in Tulsa says it's the same there rare to see any. [IMG]

I have seen Frisco boxcars several times in the Springfield, Missouri area in the last few years and I too a picture of a train last year in Cheyenne, Wyoming that had two Frisco boxcars in the same train!

I occasionally see a FRISCO boxcar pass through Monett. The car I usually see is painted in the light tan scheme. It's getting pretty well worn, but it's still great to see an old friend. Also, I've noted that it seems that the BN wanted to forget anything to do with the FRISCO. BN was always proud of the NP, GN, CB&Q heritage but seemed not to be of the SLSF or the SP&S for that matter. That is an irritation to me.
