More snow: Tunnel 5, no train, but incredible scenery. Flatirons, and first light plus a foot of snow equals incredible vistas! Looking east (south) from Tunnel 7, with a coal load descending the grade:
That's a nice pic!! The first car is even a C&NW coal car! That belongs on the UP calender for December!!
Man that is snow! I presume all that gets cleaned off before it goes out again? Or do they just clear the functional parts and go?
Not quite as snowy as the D&H shot, but here's a coal load tiptoeing down the 2% grade at Rollinsville, during a blinding blizzard. You could hear this guy befors you could see him, and the tracks at this location are straight for almost a half mile....
