Today was a really bad day for RR photography where I was... however, this intermodal train had 3 NS GP60's on the point, shot from my car in a driving rain:

    More snow:
Tunnel 5, no train, but incredible scenery. Flatirons, and first light plus a foot of snow equals incredible vistas!

Looking east (south) from Tunnel 7, with a coal load descending the grade:

Thanks, Harold! It was about a 1.5-2 mile hike to that spot, with 6-12" of snow on the ground.

That is a beautiful shot. Can you just walk right up to the track?

    Not entirely accurate....
I can, but it requires hiking thru 5 tunnels....

    Thanks, guys!

Not the train itself, this time, but some of the railroad infrastructure--in the rain, of course.

Man that is snow! I presume all that gets cleaned off before it goes out again? Or do they just clear the functional parts and go?

Not quite as snowy as the D&H shot, but here's a coal load tiptoeing down the 2% grade at Rollinsville, during a blinding blizzard. You could hear this guy befors you could see him, and the tracks at this location are straight for almost a half mile....
