Anyone have updated info on a derailment today- Somewhere in West Virginia, where a train ended up in a river? Photos on line? mg: Boxcab E50
Must have been around St. Albans - here's a link to the story about the water being OK to drink even though diesel fuel leaked into it: http://wowktv.com/story.cfm?func=viewstory&storyid=22176
Water should be safe to drink. Provided that any inlet to your system takes from well below the surface. Diesel will remain on top of the water. You'd know otherwise, by the smell... Boxcab E50
saw a pic of it on railpictures.net and the lead loco was the only item in the water that did not belong. and it was only the pilot steps up to the nose and so I think that the unit may be back in service really soon. may need some minor electrial work done to the front truck tracion motors due to the water.
The locomotive was pretty new (4814?) and close to Huntington, so it could be in service within a matter of weeks....if that.
Gee... the one time I was in West Virginia, I missed it! Oh well, I may have photos to post of other things... Harold
