So far well over $100K in donations have been raised. There are many articles, etc. Here is just one link:
Can't hit the "like" button on this one, but really hoping my donation and the hundreds of others will help get this back in place. Sad that it was rebuilt not long ago, was in great condition, and they were going to get the line working again. Whoever torched it, hope they are brought to justice.....
wow, that is horrible. Have to wonder what goes through someone's mind sometimes. Quick Google shows they have a suspect in custody for the arson but have not released names yet. Not that that's the point, but still.
Local talk radio here in Seattle suggested it was a local who lives near the RoW, and didn't want the traffic that was gonna' resume. But that was just speculation.....
that is not reason to torch bridge there would a couple trains a day rail road was there first . the noise would not be that bad
When it was a common carrier operation, there were multiple trains each way, daily. Even in the latter years of such use. Updating, the GoFundMe is over $200K now. Here is a post-fire update video:
The slide roll of 36 K64 I ever shot in the Tacoma area included the Logger. (February of 1980.) Somehow, the processor lost the roll. I have often wondered who has those views in their collection. Decades later, I would know them instantly, if I ever saw them!
