Pine Level, NC, April, 2009. This is the first DOD tank car I have seen that did not have the black paint trim on a silver car. I thought that was worth a picture...

Flash, did those DODX cars head into town to service an installation? I wonder what their cargo was...

The installations they may serve towards Goldsboro are MCAS Cherry Point and Camp LeJeune. US Army Ft Bragg is just to the south in Fayetteville, probably on CSX. All of these installations are very large. (Cherry Point is the air facility that serves Camp Lejeune.) So, I would guess they carry JP4, JP5 av gas, diesel fuel and gasoline. I do know that the contents are not labeled like some tank cars that say, "Diesel Fuel Only," or something like that. These bases are east of Pine Level. These cars are empty. Sometimes there are whole trains of 50-60 tank cars heading down east.

There is a thread on here somewhere that has a bunch of pictures of these DODX tank cars. Here is a "normal" silver tank car.

Nice way to get a water tank, but oh my gosh, the color hurts.
