Take A Special Train Trip The public is being offered a rare opportunity to ride a special passenger train from Banks, Oregon to Tillamook on Tuesday, the entire length of the Tillamook Bay Railroad. The train departs Banks at 08:30 with bus return by 18:00. A limited number of tickets at $139 will be available at Banks, starting about 07:00. The deadline to get the optional lunch has passed, although passengers can bring their own lunches. Snacks, drinks and souvenirs will be sold on the train. The all-day train ride will cross the Coast Range, go through the Salmonberry River Canyon and travel along the Pacific Coast beaches to Tillamook. Passengers board 1950s vintage rail cars on the Oregon Coast Explorer at the sawmill in Banks. Banks is on Highway 26, northwest of Hillsboro.
