In Houston, the latest trend is to buy a few side by side old rundown shotgun houses in inner city neighborhoods, bulldoze them and build huge lot line to lot line new homes. Some of the old "wards" as they call them are well over 100 years old. The character of the neighborhoods are rapidly changing. In one such area there was an old gospel church that had been there for 100 years or so and was still very active. Needless to say, the various services were quite loud with all the joyful noise they generated. Of course the new residents have been complaining about this.
