Major milestone in my layout guys.

I finally have run by bus line allowing me to start soldering feeders. [IMG]

To make the running of feeders as simple and goof proof as possible. While at the same time rebuilding my track plan to the pre tested flawless running. I mapped out the pieces and the polarity of each piece of unitrack as seen here. [IMG]

I then proceeded to mark the corresponding unitrack sections according to master map. As seen here on the underside [IMG][IMG]

Now on to the soldering stage. Pics to follow as soon as work is started.

Good stuff, Peter! You're making lots of progress. I labeled my track in a similar way with indicators for polarity. You may have to run feeders on either end of a piece of track, depending on what's below the layout. But that's no big deal.

I dropped my feeders prior to running the bus. Where I pictured my bus running was quite different than what ended up making sense (as you can see below). However, I also have double mainlines and a little yard in the center. Your's seems a bit more straight forward in terms of where the feeders will drop. Are you going to use Posi-Taps?

Here's what mine looked like after bus/feeders were installed:
The wiring has gotten busier down there with with wiring for switches and DCC. The only thing I recommend is labeling each turnout wire where it drops below the layout. This has come in handy several times.

Keep it up!

I am not using posi taps. I decided to solder feeders directly to the bus for solid no worry down the road operation. I am also wiring for ddc and switches down the road

Been a while since I posted. No real major updates. Still working on wiring feeders to each piece of unitrack and weathering it as well. I am about half way done. Hoping to be done in the next two weeks or so. I am finding it hard to get time to work on my layout lately.

I have finally finished all my feeder soldering to each section of track. It only took 2 and half months but I finally finished.

Now its connecting my track to my bus line. Hopefully this won't take another few months. It seems I can't find time to work on my layout lately.

Congrats. Sometimes it can take a long time to make progress, particularly when life "gets in the way". Just keep plugging and enjoy.

So not much in wiring progress. However, i finished moving my parents and inherited a sturdy solid table.

My work bench is born, fits nicely under one of my layout ends. My train sanctuary is taking shape nicely.

Started to relay my track back on the layout and running feeders.

Bottom view [IMG]

Hopefully will be done in the next few days. Then on to electrical testing, and track testing before gluing it down.

Finally got my wiring done of my track. All tested and working. [IMG][IMG]

All that needs to be done is wiring my turnouts and turnout control panel. That will wait for a bit as I will be throwing them manually. Currently working on a pull out kato throttle panel. As my wife and I are expecting our third child, my NCE Pro Cab will have to wait.
More updates to come.

This weekend I finished my temp Kato power pack control pull out and power distribution. I will be eventually getting the NCE Power Cab when finances allow. Will focus my control budget on turnout controls and panel first.
[IMG] Power strip.
[IMG]Wider view including the back of pull out drawer unit.
[IMG] Front view of the drawer.
[IMG]Shot of the drawer pulled out. I made this temp control center out of an old IKEA CD stacked drawer system that I cut down to size. The fascia holding power pack in place is a white masonite board.
Finally some pics of testing the track. [IMG][IMG]

So far having some conductivity issues in certain sections due to dirt and paint. Next step going to be cleaning track, rerunning trains and then low temp gluing track in place level.

Cool! I really like that track arrangement. It's going to look very nice once scenery is added!

Hi guys, haven't posted in a while as I have been busy with other things around the house. I have finally finished gluing all my track down and cleaned the track to solve all of my conductivity problems. In the next few weeks I am ballasting the tunnel portion of my layout so I can finish of my slopes and mountain ranges. Stay tuned for more pictures.

Making some more slow progress on my layout. Now that the track is issue free, I have started to focus on the tunnel portion of my layout. [IMG][IMG] I am mocking up my modern concrete snow shed type tunnel portals. The core of engineers made the passage wide and tall to accommodate all type of modern rolling stock. [IMG] Here is an over view of the length. Painting and ballasting to come. More pics to come.

So been quite busy this past week. Mostly this Canada day weekend. I have finished ballasting track in the tunnel section and first bridge. As seen here. [IMG] in the tunnel approach crossing the river. And here[IMG] from the more gentle slopped future forested entry.
Here is an overall look of the future rock face skirting the river canyon. [IMG]

As usual, comments and suggestions welcome.

So got some more landforms in tonight. Worked on the yard side of the layout building up a gentle rolling slope with some sharper slides. [IMG] CP 9516 coming through the tunnel. [IMG]A aireal view of the yard and slope.

Here are some rail fanning shots of CP 9516 coming into the yard. [IMG][IMG]

A interesting layout update to share with you guys. With my wife being set to be induced be the end of the week with our 3rd child. The cats are going to be placed in the basement at night till we are confident they wont be a nuisance to our baby boy.

Therefore, I devised a cheap simple but crude cat barrier as both my cats love to lay on the layout. Turns out I killed two birds with one stone so to speak, as I solved my layout lighting issue be creating a valance.

Its a simple rope pulley system on a 1 by 3 frame, sturdy but cheap only coasted me 30 dollars for entire project. [IMG] [IMG] Pulley and frame being shown here.

As for light control. [IMG] dose a very good job while at the same time giving enough light to rest of basement. As for keeping the cats out, I think it will just do the trick. [IMG]surprising what duck tape, tarpaulin and some 1x3 can accomplish. Mind you this is temporary to mid term application, I wasn't looking for aesthetics.

Excellent setting for a layout! I've been through the area many times. The scenery is, of course, breathtaking!. Please do post progress photos as you go! I was in Vernon, this morning, spending too much money on helping the Vernon Hobby Centre to sell out. They are closing their doors. Everything in the store is 50% off. I left over $1K there between this week and last. lots of stuff left but almost no locos.
