I just spent the evening running trains for the first time with a Gaugemaster connected to my 1300. Every locomotive I pulled out and ran, sputtered a little for about 1 or 2 laps around my 2 end modules, then smoothed right out. I have never seen anything quite like it for a DC locomotive. The Gaugemaster flickered quite a bit the first lap with each locomotive, then a lot less on the second lap, and by 5 laps, the light would maybe flicker every 2 or 3 laps. After the first couple laps, the locomotives ran smooth and slow, and I could not believe how pleasing it was to see balky locomotives all of a sudden whipped into submission after only 2 laps around the modules. So, what does this mean? It means I would rather have a Gaugemaster and 1300 than a pulse power or other DC type setup. My only experience with the Gaugemaster is just tonight, after running about 10 locomotives for the past few hours. I bought it from recommendations from Rob Kluz, and several other Trainboard members, and I am so well pleased. Now I am still going to convert most of my locomotives to DCC, but in the interim, the Gaugemaster is my new best friend! -Robert
Robert, that is great! I think most folks think I am nuts when I tell them how well these devices work. You have to see it to believe it. I will always use them on my Z layouts. They are a must in my opinion. Rob Kluz
I am glad you like it. If you like using the 1300, you should try it with a tech 2! (no pulse) It really is awsome. I really think once people use one they will be hooked. You have to see it to believe it. I have another on the way that I just ordered. What is nice is you actually get to operate your trains! For Boxcab's question about what is a 1300? A 1300 is a model of a power pack sold by MRC.
I got mine for $46 total from Glenn and Sandy Stiska out of Largo, FL. I was so pleased that I ordered another for the second loop on my ZBT modules. Telephone: 727-535-3819 stiska @ earthlink. net
