When I was at the Canadian Railway Museum back in June 2010, I took a great look at the sole-survivng FM/CLC "Trainmaster", and according to the builder's plates, the train was built in September 1956. I like the Canadian version the best because it's got a twin sealed beam style headlights and the train looked modern-day to me. Most of the "Trainmasters" were scrapped for a reason...Why? If you like those Fairbanks-Morse/Canadian Locomotive Company "Trainmasters" (H-24-66), here are the 360-degree photos below (BTW, I apologize for some poor pictures because there weren't enough room to take good shots :tb-frown:). The #8905 is the only FM/CLC locomotive I like :tb-biggrin:.

Even in the 21st century it's not difficult to hear F-M OP's in action; unfortunately, they are deep inside big tug boats, and not railroad locomotives.

An FM is always interesting. It's too bad so many folks will never experience one. Thankfully there are a few left and even one or two which still do run.

The Soviets built a large number of FM clones, and many are still operating in Russia and eastern Europe. The Chinese, in turn, duplicated the Soviets' engine, but most Chinese OPs are gone from railway service.

Unlike the better-known Soviet Alcos and the less-famous Czech Baldwins, the FMs weren't copies of a locomotive. The USSR didn't get any FM locomotives during the war, but did get some boats with FM engines.

On the website: no pictures, no webpages, no nothing... >=(

I've got unfortunate, bad but important news: On the website ( http://members.shaw.ca/cprclc/ ), some of the webpages' links, and...the pictures' links are...BROKEN! :tb-frown: If you click on any webpage or the picture, it pops up nothing but so-called "Shaw Webspace". :tb-mad: These pictures of these trains and the webpages, also the PDF files should be restored ever since the whole website was last updated. The last time I noticed, it was a disappointing but bogus discovery.
