Well all this talk about the new Bachman GP50 being so great I went out and bought one, and WOW, it runs like butter. So I have put all of my Kato and Atlas up for sale. instead of Kato dash-9's or SD40-2s I will use Bachman Dash-8's and SD40-2s, what and improvement, They even spark like the real things. I have also found some older Con Cor SD50's and purchesd them and will be selling all of my atlas ones. And my favorite new engines are my bachman GP40's and U36B's, much better that any of my Kato or Atlas stuff. they even recreate the many layers of paint found on real engines!

I hear 'ya Kevin. I was just sitting around thinking about making some high nose GP50's for Santa Fe and Burlington Northern and Voila! Bachmann has solved my problem! What innovators! What detail!? I think they are supposed to bring out high nose Dash 8's too! I can't wait!

You guys forgot to mention the truck detail as well. I can't recall a model with more realistic Blombergs...

I'm really suprised they didn't offer a D&RGW model. I would have snapped up one of those!

wow i hope my local hobby store will accept 84 atlas and kato junk engines for maybe 1 or 2 gp50's.i have a few kato gp50's but they wont run or hold the value a bachman does.does anyone know if this is a limited run or will they be offered for a while, and are they gonna do a bn high hood gp50 also?if its limited i'll cancel my order of 14 80/90mac's and just get gp50's.well heck what am i saying i don't need any of that kato stuff anyway.....hello bachman. one more question, does anyone know why the other manufacturers dont make realistic looking pilots like the ones on bachman stuff?i better go i'm gonna camp out at hte hobby store tonight so i'm first in line tomorrow.

How does Model Power compare to Bachman locos. Is the quality as bad as Atlas and Kato? Or are they a finely detailed and good running as Bachmans?

    Thanks

Excellent point, mtaylor, while not an N scaler in the past i've owned both the revered Bachmann F9 and a Model Power FA2 as well. I must say the Model Power unit was actually the better runner! [IMG] I was shocked thinking the F9 would have the higher starting speed but the FA2 exceeded it easily. It also had very good nose contours which had to have been scaled down from actual blueprints. Excellent diework. Definitely on the same level as the Bachmann models.

Nothing runs better than, or looks more prototypical than a Lima GP30, especially the handrails! Beats Bachmann hands down.

    You're probably right... [IMG]

Gotta admit though, that Lima GP30 sure was a dog though!
