    Hi All,

Well, I finally received MSTS. Came about 1500. Got it unpacked and installed. No problem. Just make sure you do a clean, safe or what ever you want to call it install. There are three ways to do it that I know of. What I do is close all the running programs then go to CTRL+ALT+DELETE and highlite and End Task on everything except Explorer & Systray. Throw in the CD and go for it. I did the full install. Found the readme files and fired up the printer. The main file is 96 pages. Got it all printed out with the last few pages using fumes for ink. The light had been flashing for the last 40 pages. Decided I might need the printer again so it was off to the local office supply pusher, er, store. Got home, opened the box and the wrapping. What are those three holes on the bottom :(. Aaaaaarggggggggg. Got a color cartrige. Back to the pusher for the right color, BLACK.

Back into the files to find the shortcut icon to install on my desktop. Fired it up and had a problem. No sound :(. Sound card not installed. Bull. Checked everything out. No problems. I had noticed a couple of programs where the sound was not right lately. Time to go into the Device Manager again and remove anything to do with sound. Reboot and reinstall sound card software. Fire up MSTS and we have sound.

So far I have just run the demo and am getting an average frame rate of 30 at 800X600. Have spent the rest of the time getting all the extras that I have downloaded the last two weeks. Little stuff like a 20MB sky program, the UP and Rio Grande locos plus extra BN and SF types.

Time to start reading and learn how to run it.

Hi Jim, what are the minimum system requirements for this software to run. Will be interested in any reports you have on it. The program is pricey here in Canada and lists for $69.99

    Hi Robin,

Word from the street has it you should be running a 500 CPU and a 16MB video card for good results. I get an average refresh rate of 25 FPS running at 800 X 600 with all controls at max. Once in a while it will drop to 15 or jump to 35.

    Hi Robin:

Can you purchase on-line from USA? I just got a ZD Net price-watch notice that it's available for $43.99. Don't remember the supplier, but will find out if you are interested. My direct E-mail: hhdawrs@yahoo.com.

    Robin:
Oops...check the other simulator forum. Best Buy is posted twice at $34.00. I'll have to rattle ZD Net's cage.
