If you look at this image again.

I got up there on a ladder Monday and today. I scraped as much of the 'gunk dam' off the edges from the right side...about right behind that powered vent to the front...across the front....and up the left side the same distance. And the worst place...that front left corner where the radio antenna is (camouflage by the power pole). It was all wet under the old sealant I scraped off and I had to wait for it to dry. I used a wire brush and cleaned it all up before re-sealing.

I had bought a quart of white 'Flex Seal' and had just enough to seal the areas I had scraped and cleaned *whew*:eek:

Andall that 'wet' indicates you found the leaky spots. Atleast some of them, but HOPEFULLY all of them!

We had a 'popup shower' yesterday. The catch pan i put in the cabinet above that corner had very little water in it. I believe I am making progress on these roof leaks !!(y)

Will be running errands today (pay day) and will pick up another quart of the 'White Flex Seal' and get up on the roof and put another thin layer of sealer in that corner. Have a few other areas that will need some sealing but I think I see the finish line !!(y)(y)

Welll...the scrap yard crane is about done as its gonna get. Building this little bitty model was a royal pita !!!! All that rigging about pushed me over the deep end !

Then there is the electric magnet. Most people would have been happy to just glue the plastic magnet that comes with it to the string. NOOooooooo...not George !!! I even made a tiny hook to put on the main cable to hang the magnet from ! :censored::censored::censored:

I even went crazy enough to scratchbuild an electric magnet that actually has a rare earth magnet buried in it. It will actually hold up steel objects found in the scarp yard !!! :D:D(y)(y)(y)(y)(y)(y)(y)(y)

Now if you go for one of the very small mechanisms it might be mounted on rails.

Nah...a crane needs to go where it needs to go...not where rails take it....just saying;)

Funny thing is, I saw some videos of tiny, tiny micro loaders and such. In that HO scale, but still.....

Very nice job George (y) I took the easy route and used a clam shell crane in my scrap yard.

Thanks. I thought about a clamshell. But the thought that I could use a rare earth magnet and make the 'load' different from time to time was too tempting. I have an old medicine bottle full of trip pins somewhere. To be able to actually use them as scrap...welll. :sneaky::D

Hi Mike, From what I've read so far (and my German is not very good) I believe these are all models from companies like Norscot and Herpa that have been converted to RC.

This seems to be a growing hobby in Germany.

Now if you're interested in a larger scale R/C Excavator, this once can be had for the low low price of $584.99

If I had the extra $116.99 plus shipping from the UK I think I'd purchase this one just to irritate the wife a little more than I usually do :ROFLMAO::LOL:

OK, Sorry George for stealing your thread, now back to our regularly scheduled programming (y)
