Here's an interesting survivor for ya in Brazil.
Ex DRGW SD40T-2 #5386. Check out the B-B trucks on this thing. Also believe it is now narrow guage.

    Neat stuff!
I hear that the narrow guage trucks they use make the unit good for more tractive and dynamic braking effort as well.
    Thanks for sharing!
And an external-mount MARS lite oin the nose; unique to under a dozen D&RGW Tunnel Motors!

Here are a couple of hopper shots that I took in Grand Junction, CO back in July. They are a little distant but I figured I would post them to keep this thread alive.

Now's the time to catch these survivors..

UP issued a statement saying all former D&RGW units will be patched next time in the shop, without fail. With one Tunnel motor and a small handful of Geeps left, they are dropping fast!

So much for any true interest by them in "heritage." Bunch of phoneys.

    Yeah, you got that right...
Just another megamerger corp. seeking to make its bankroll bigger at the expense of the model RR community.

On a brighter note, there can't be many of these left in premerger paint minus patches:

January, 1994, Dolores Yard, SoCal. How about a few SD45s? Maybe an SD40 in there?

No SD40 there as DRGW only bought TM versions of them.

Can't see the number, but it looks like a Geep 40...

Here are some more survivors that I found in the Grand Junction yard. Sorry about the photo quality. I wish I had a better camera and a little more photography skills.

Caught a DRGW GP40-2 with a brand-new patch UP 1352. DIdn't have my camera with me (don't get out too often these days).

Can anybody tell which unit donated its identity for that patch?

One of the last surviving Geep 40-2's on the roster:
    D&RGW 3100, at North Yard:
I caught him while on my way west to the Moffat Route, and stopped (read: bailed off the freeway, tires squealing) since I saw Aspen Gold from I-70....

Sounds like a typical Denver driver to me......and I ran across (not literally) quite a few of these folks on I-25.

    Good catch on that GP40!
