I guess I'd better start keeping a camera closer. I live about 1 1/2 blocks across an open field from the UP Ogden subdivision in Northern Utah. Once or twice a month, I'll spot a train with D&RGW hoppers or gondolas go by. Other cars are very rare. I've never seen a D&RGW engine here, but every once in awhile a Southern Pacific engine will go by. I have a small layout in my basement (N scale) called the Willow Valley Branch. It's a 'what if' scenario modeling Cache Valley, Utah if the D&RGW had come north from Ogden instead of the UP (Oregon Shortline).

Ben Thats a remarkable collection of finds and I'm surprised the proto group on Yahoo hasnt seen them before now. Are these recent pics or have you been sitting on them for a while? Taking last first, the X25 series car isnt mentioned in Jim Eagers book but no doubt he'd be able to track the type. Pretty much looks the same as other 1913 ex D&RG 36 foot boxcars that were rebuilt into MoW types of the X 23 and 2400 series. The underbody is near a century old, the upper structure at least half that I guess. The AX 60080 is the number series for Keebler Cookie Box rebuilds, but that series is supposed to have stopped at 60076, so something is fishy? The 5 panel door is not original I dont think. That vertical ribbed AX is from the very small range of 67400-19 twenty rebuilds in '65. Amazing one still exists. And you have not one but 3 of the varying series of new and unique styles 12 panel Pressed Steel boxcars made between 1939 (WWII) and 1946. Technically 5 because the 60x and 674x were also rebuilds of the originals. I'm sure JimE would supply further info if you email him the pics, cheers and thanks for sharing dave

From Colorado From a outdoor tour of Burnham shops, I located DRGW 5401, who was recently donated to the CRRM. DRGW 5401 Cab DRGW 5401 DRGW 5401 Also seen here, was SP 5393, or DRGW 5393. Repainted to Espee in the 90's UP 9868 Then a shot from the Tennessee Pass route through Buena Vista. DRGW lives on the Tennesse Pass route
DRGW Geep with Lights!!! DRGW 3118, now known as UP 1359 arrived in Colorado Springs to work the local while Uncle Pete smiles upon us DRGW bretheren. A few survivors to add to the list. D&RGW AX-21015 I found this in the back storage area of a local museum. It appears to be a D&RGW MOW dump car. The D&RGW paint was barely visible. Ben
