When we paid a visit to Toronto in 1985, the switchers being used by CN were these S13's. Are they still around, or have they been superceded, and if so, by what? TIA. I rather liked those switchers
There are no powered S13s left on CNR, and I don't believe that there has been since at least 1997, some one else may be able to provide more details though. They only 'S' units left are 7 S3 slugs... Happy Railroading! Dane
Can't say much about the "S" but I love the picture. That's all gone now but my favourate FPA-4 is there and the Ontario Northland unit in that unbelievably bad paint scheme. I expect there are fewer RDC's in use today.
Not only the switchers Ontario Northland and rdc's now most of that track is gone too. Just a throat left to get into Union Station
Is any local switching still done in Toronto? When we were there, a CP S2 shoved a cut of cars across the intersection at the end of Spadina bridge, into a yard. Is this yard still there, and if so, what is used for switching these days? TIA. There used to be trains along the road parrallel to the lake shore Front Street?, but I expect those tracks are now gone.
Here it is in snow. All gone now, but note it IS prototypical to have a baloon trak loop all the way around my roundhouse to get back! Told you so! [ 23 January 2002: Message edited by: watash ]
