Was able to chase a steam excursion today. I was doing video and some still photography. Here is a link to the shots my friend took. Enjoy! http://chessie2018.rrpicturearchives.net/archivethumbs.aspx?id=16170
Really nice. Reminds me of the Valley Railroad in Connecticut and the Little River Railroad in Indiana years ago. If only I would have had the cameras back then that I have now!
Raymond, thanks for posting that link. We need more STEAM here! And, Tim, Amen to that statement about the cameras. Man, I wish I had what I have now about 50 years ago. :teeth:
Great shots! We must have been close to each other on that bridge shot at Trion! I got one that looks just like it. Going to download and post some photos. Chased 610 from Summerville all the way back to the TVRM.
My buddy Homer was heading for the airport at Atlanta, so he had time to get some photos before heading off. Kimberly got a picture of us before he left.
610 has a really great exhaust stack sound, and the whistle is beautiful. The crew did a good job of working both.
Rounding a curve. I waited at this crossing for about 20 minutes, listening to TV 610 going through the hills. It was great!
Pacing was excellent! Very little traffic. The TVRM crew did an excellent job of running this locomotive. It was fired beautifully. They made a nice day worth every mile!
While waiting on this bridge, a man pulled up in a truck and asked if I was waiting for the train. I told him yes, and he pulled over and two women got out of the truck with him. He said they had NEVER heard or seen a real steam engine, and they were sitting at his house a couple miles away and he heard it, and told them to get in the truck, they were going to find it. Here, they got a great experience, as this crossing was right before the bridge. Oh how the steam whistle can move people........
