I've been piecing together the consist of the "South" Texas Eagle, No. 21, as it would have appeared in the early 1950's. I thought I would share what I've been able to pull together so far. If anybody has any more info (mainly car assignments), please add it. The sleeping car types are accurate for August 1950, though the order may not be correct.

Generally, power for this train was two passenger locos (E's or PA's).

The sleepers from the east would arrive at St. Louis on Pennsy's Penn Texas, which also handled cars for El Paso and Ft. Worth ("West" Texas Eagle, No. 1), and San Antonio via Frisco/Katy's The Texas Special.

The Memphis car was added at Little Rock.

At Palestine, TX, the train was split into the San Antonio (Train No. 21) and Houston (Train No. 21-25) sections.

Train No. 21-25 actually continued on to Galveston, but south of Houston, it was only a combine and the Galveston sleeper.

The Corpus Christi coach was forwarded by The Valley Eagle, Gulf Coast Lines Train No. 11, to Odem and Train No. 205 to Corpus Christi.
