    I think your right, Rio Grande tunnel motors only had a nose light that oscillated.

    Just east of Old Tunnel 28 on the Moffat in 2008, the eastbound manifest, Roper-North Yard, or what railfans lovingly called "Macaroni". The site of Old T28 is marked by the scarred rock, a lighter color that the weathered rock around it; the tunnel was daylighted in 1951/2 due to unstable rock.
