Oops. Forgot. Sorry. All of these shots were taken at the north end of the CN yard in Mattoon IL in mid August 2007.
Must be one of those railfanning hot spots, about which we seldom hear? Appears to be plenty busy. Boxcab E50
Looks like a good place to see geeps. Good to see the GT one as we saw several of those way back in 1985!!
RICHARD,, great shots from Mattoon. We were through there last Sunday and all we seen was a pair of NS engines at the south end of the yard and no way to get a photo. There wasn’t anything there when we came back by on the way home. I get up that way some and it’s not to bad a spot to rail fan, but weekdays are best. The weekends are normally slow along that line. To top things off the old IC station [Amtrak] is just a bit north off the yard. I like Effingham better though; you get CN/IC and all the different power on CSX’s line
