I've liked in Minot for almost 7 years and have NEVER seen this elevator goat running. In miserably cold weather, it's working a loaded hopper from the elevator to the storage track for later pickup by CP.
Nice catch Hemi, worth freezing for! Looks like an ex-ICG Paducah product. Alot of the these were originally UP units.
Close, it is a Paducah rebuild, but ex-IC. CHSX 8333, originally built as Illinois Central GP7 8978 in 1953, and redesignated a GP8.
CP train 198 barrels east near Logan, ND on the CP Portal Sub under decidedly crummy skies and gale force winds:
Eastbound CP manifest train 498 gets underway and crosses a small tributary of the Souris River just east of Minot East.
"April Showers" What would normally be rain was a full-fledged blizzard in Minot, ND on 17 April 22. After a snowmageddon blizzard that dumped an enormous 36 inches of snow on the Magic City, this storm a week later dumped an additional foot on Minot. In this view just outside of downtown Minot at MP 468, CP Portal Sub, we're in whiteout conditions as CP 244 east, the Calgary-St Paul manifest train formerly known as CP 498, eases into the yard just west of Minot West.
Yikes! Four feet! That's in the same league as Buffalo NY. A good day to stay inside, close all the blinds, and play with trains... Or crawl under a pile of blankets and sleep until mid-June.
1000% yes! North Dakota is off her meds and needs to report to rehab immediately! We're expecting another storm this weekend; rain and could be snow, again... Maybe the memes are correct and due to supply chain delays, this is February's storm snow?? Asking for a friend...
Yep... It was back ordered. Then held up in customs. Everything backed up and then it got released in two big deliveries.
The snow we've been waiting for arrived in early November after a great Indian Summer. A hot Z train rumbles west and crosses the freezing Souris River in a snow squall:
If you need more, we apparently might maybe have a big dump this weekend. I'm giving it away for free.
These guys went over to North Dakota on the morning of the 17th Dec, came back to town on the late afternoon of the 18th. Here they are after going to the west end and turning on the wye. I haven't seen them the last couple of days, so they must have gone out to do some more snow pushing!
