I like the new Milwaukee set, just 9 cars does not fit my rr. How about take the 3 signature cars and produce that as a set for us small railroader?
I agree with this. I LOVE my Kato BN, CB&Q, and Pennsy passenger trains, but I would need a gymnasium to make them look "right" !!! The Silver Streak Zephyr is just the right size for me, and Kato "accidentally" made it possible to replicate "The Dummie" with their PC set. Not all passenger trains went from Chicago to LA or Miami !!!
I would like to see the Nebraska Zephyr is only five cars. Kato has an E5 to go with train. Have rode in E5 #9911A Silver Pilot and five car Nebraska Zephyr at Illinios Railway Musuem. Train has gotten out of museum and ran on the mainlines.
Kato has tentatively indicated that they may produce the Rock Island Rocket sets with the TA locomotive. Those consists were usually 5 cars or less. Sent from my SM-G530T using Tapatalk
I'd like Kato to produce the E5-B units on their next Zephyr consist. I like the large consists and know that they are not for 'everyone' when it comes to running on a layout. You can always truncate a large consist into a smaller consist to fit your layout. If you model the late 1950's into Amtrak... some 'named' trains were running a single diesel with a couple headend cars and a couple of coaches/sleepers. The smaller consists make good sense and I think Kato is moving in that direction. Sent from my SM-G530T using Tapatalk
Only the first two years... after that the coach - buffet lounge 950 (which was not manned) was dropped from the consist and it largely operated with only baggage - coach 727 Fort Mitchel (ex-CG 391) and dome - coach 1613 (ex-CG, exx-N&W, nee-WAB 203), former CG Modernized Heavyweights 905 and 906 frequently were used when on of the regular cars required serving or repair. Was a frequent rider up until I entered the military in '74, the same year the train was discontinued. Unfortunately I wasn't present for the last run, which included two E8As and extra cars...
