This has to be the slowest site I have ever seen and this happens a lot with this site. Right now, nearly two minutes at times for a page to load up. I am using Firefox 13.01 and no other site is a problem. I hope this site can be cleaned up. The Trains.com site is large but loads much faster than this one. Rich
Hmmmm ... I'm using IE9 and have no problem with it at all, Lexon. I'm not very computer savvy, so I don't know what to tell you. Maybe someone else can help.
Rich, I'm using IE9 and have no complaints. Occasionally TB loads a little more slowly when lots of folks are accessing the site, but usually it has about the same load speed as other medium power (funded) sites. It would be unfair to compare TB's site speed with well-funded corporate sites such as Wikipedia, CNN, Google, Fox News, etc. On the other hand TB loads much faster than Kalmbach's Trains Newswire site which at times is comparable to grass growing or paint drying.
I use Firefox and have never had a problem in 4 years. You might want to check and clear your PC internet History/Cookies. Found under Browser tools; that will usually speed up your internet response times overall.
Very slow I never store cookies. I always clear ALL date in FF every time I close the Browser. I have been doing that for over seven years and run a Linux Operating System. No other sites are affected. Average load time is about 45 seconds. No one else is having problems so it is my system. All my email, Facebook. Google searches ok. Just this site. Take care all. I am gone. Not your problem. Rich
I was simply reporting my configuration and that I don't have any problems as an aid to perhaps diagnosing what might be different at your setup. I am not trying to antagonize you, but if you think we're all out to get you I guess we'll just see you on down the road. Best regards, Adam
I have no problem using Imac Safari or Firefox. Please don't take it as criticism. Folks are just telling you their configurations and results.
It is not necessarily your computer or software. In fact there is an entire communications system, plus Internet riding upon it, between your computer and your provider, then between ISP and our server. At any point along that line, there could be a contribution to slowing things down. Nowhere is it perfection. Reality is that if it were on our end, literally everyone here would be having the same difficulties. That is not the case. Which proves the trouble to be outside of our facilities.
I wrote to you a while back about the fact that I can't access the site through the address bar (Win7, IE8), but have no trouble if I google it, and no trouble through the desktop shortcut I put up. Doing a trouble shoot couldn't identify the problem (I've just tried again with the same result). So I put it down to gremlins. (maybe I splashed water on my computer)
I use Firefox at home and IE at work. All of the pages load instantly. It is definately on your end. Sorry for you though. Charlie
