Not to piggyback on the Frankenmallet thread, but this is a unique Skunk Works project:
C-C U50, in GN Empire Builder colors, in progress:

Steve, there IS light at the end of the tunnel! :D

I should have clarified, the C-C meant Con-Cor....

Flash, the dark stripes are Pullman Green paint. I wish they were decals!!! The hardest mask job I have ever attempted in my life!!! I'd say, just a step below a Warbonnet in difficulty, with complex curves, and masking on the sill assy and long hood both having to be equal...

The stripes are royal pain to apply in a straight fashion. They are a scale 2" wide, so they are very narrow, and flex so much! The nose decals are a mix of 5 decals apiece so far (1 for the upside-down 'V' one on either side of the 'V' and one on either curved side of the bottom), with 2 more, and a Rocky herald to add yet. The GN never owned GE U50's, so I made a prototype-flavor scheme, based heavily on the F unit scheme. I took the liberty to add an upturn to the Omaha orange at the tail end of the long hood, tapering to a point on the long hood roof, similar to the GP20's. The trucks will be silver, and the tank will be Pullman green as well.
Thanks for all the kind comments! This is a project unlike any I have undertaken before, and I have learned a lot!

Interesting.... I remember seeing a "project" on eBay that had a custom painted Chessie System unit!

Super job! The loco that GN should have had. What time frame were the U50's used in anyway? And how does the Con Cor U50 perform? Just kind of wondering because those things look really neat.

These are the 25yo ConCor U50s. They run like clock work, (I have not used them much). I will post an update in a few months after testing them. On the Grey and Grandure sub division they will be hauling freight eras are not relevant. In my universe the GN took over the UP, (as an act of mercy).

Hemi, feel free to give them a work out.

Hemi, you got a BigBoy (or similar) that you can put next to it for comparison?

The biggest engines I now have are my tunnel motors. And the U-boats dwarf them.
    It's roughly the size of a DDA40X...

    Thanks for the comparo, Steve!
This weekend is busy, so I likely won't be able to finish decaling till Monday.
Man, they are looking good now!
I can't wait to see how they look, fully finished, and dullcoated!
