I was looking some site to download some locos for MSTS. I noticed on some of the downloads saids (skin only) What dose that mean? Donald
It is like a dummy loco. Just along for the ride. In order to make it a stand-alone, you need all all the files of an operational loco of the same type. <blockquote>quote:</font><hr>Originally posted by Donald: I was looking some site to download some locos for MSTS. If you have an operating locomotive - say a BNSF Dash 9 - and you want a UP Dash 9 and you have the skin, you go into the directory (with Windows Explorer) "Trainset" and make a new directory called whatever you want to call it and you copy the sound and cabview directories (as well as any of the other files not provided with the skin) into the new directory. Then, you have to use the "activity editor" to make a consist to run your new locomotive. It seems cumbersome at times and more complicated than necessary but once you do it once, you know how to do it from then on. That's basically the way to add anything but a lot of the boxcars and other rolling stock you just unzip into a directory with a name of your choosing and dump it into the MSTS "Trainset" directory then it is available in the editor. We'll attempt to help you along if you have problems. Welcome to TrainBoard, by the way. Charlie
