The derailment occurred at Grissom Street and District Boulevard around 1:30 p.m. when five of the train cars were knocked on their side and another leaked a 35 percent nitrogen solution, or “urea.” Three train cars were empty, but two cars contained (without leakage) liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), and the car containing urea leaked one to two gallons per minute. A nearby business was forced to evacuate its employees, but officials said there was no environmental or human threat. The investigation is ongoing.
