Am I the only one with a problem with this site being extremely slow. For the last couple months now I hardly even visit the site as it takes a good 30-45 seconds for every page to load. I have high speed internet as well.

I'm not seeing anything like that. All pages load instantly for me. I'm not sure what your issue could be.

I'm somewhat in his (Nlevo) region. Not seeing any troubles here. Going anywhere at any time on the 'Net, including TrainBoard.

I think this type of trouble usually comes down to a browser/firewall setting on your local machine.

What type of browser do you use? Perhaps adding TrainBoard to the trusted site list on your firewall may help?

    Slow Internet

Have you tried clearing your Internet Browsing History, Temporary Files and your Cookies. That will slow a Browser down to a crawl if it isn't cleared on a regular basis.

Well what is weird is no other site takes any time at all to load, just this one. I use Mozilla Firefox and already have this as a trusted site.

Well I tried it on Internet Explorer and it is a little faster, still slower then most other sites though. I tried erasing all my cookies as well and double checked to make sure its not blocked at all and nothing.

No idea what your issue is. We have a dedicated server and it is fairly new. Checking server load and all of that, it all looks good.

Seems to dawdle on the contacting part, then bang! downloads fast. That's probably on my end? Contacting through a mobile phone gizmo, Virgin Mobile. Better than the old modem. That's why I finally joined. Got some speed.

I use IE and have the same problem. Yes, I clear everything on a routine basis and yes it is identified as safe. The fact, in my case, is that TB loads slower than any other site that I visit. Most others are instantaneous but not TB. Just a small glitch to deal with. OBTW, I use Roadrunner high speed.

"high speed" internet does not always mean high speed internet, just compaired to dial up.

Satalite internet is not much better than dialup. Using a cell phone as a modem is better, but is still slower than I would ever stoop to. An Air card is quicker, still won't use it. Free wifi at St*rb*cks is quicker yet, and still slow unless nobody is there.

Get a DSL line or a cable modem, cable is quicker than DSL, until everyone gets home from work and checks their email. IF you can afford the $200+ a month, get a T1 and enjoy life.

you really get what you pay for. To see where the real hold up is, run a trace route on to the site, to do so, click on start, all programs, accesories, comand prompt. then type in tracert trainboard.com then press enter. ANY hop that takes over 150ms to complete is slowing it down, anything over 300ms, and there is a good chance it will time out.

IF it is YOUR BROWSER, clear your cookies and temp files 2-3 times a week, close the browser and restart it.

Here is a good tracert with my IP starred out.
    C:\Documents and Settings\HP_Administrator>tracert trainboard.com

    Bremner,

It is not worth all that to me. In case you are not aware, Roadrunner is cable and as I said evry other site I visit the response is quick. With TB it shows "site is found, waiting for reply" and it takes a few seconds. No big deal just that TB is the only one that acts that way. If it gets any worse, I'll just quit using TB. My choice, no big deal.

Carl, it still can be an ISP issue going through a router that simply needs to be refreshed. I would seriously start with a tracert, it takes 2 minutes for a long, slow one.

The problem is not on our end. If that were true, everyone would be loading in the same fashion.

correct, it is either the computer, the router, or the ISP.

step 1. delete cookies and cache, on Firefox it is tools, delete recent history, on IE, it is tools, options, delete browsing hiostory, delete all. shut down browser, reopen, if fine, WOOT!!! if not....

step 2. turn off router and modom, turn them back on.

still having issues? CALL YOUR ISP!!!!

still don't think that it is your issue? go use a proxy server. Megaproxy.org has a try it free section and google can be used as a proxy server by going to http://www.google.com/language_tools?hl=en and type the URL in on the third section down that says Translate a web page and then leave it on Spanish to English and click Translate. Don't log in, since neither of these allow cookies.

i troubleshoot issues that are not my employers for 7 out of my 10 hour shift. I know a browser/ISP issue when I see one.

I have cleared a LOT of internet slowness problems by simply power-cycling my modem (cable, DSL, etc.) and then my router, and then restarting my computer.

Other than that, clearing out the browser's cache and cookies and such would take care of nearly all the rest.

I have not been having slowness issues on TB. Best of luck in resolving your speed issues!

    Boxcab E50,

Correct. I can't possibly diagnose these problems, and that would be out of place for me in the first place. I just think, sometimes, users like me with slower connections like cellphones just get out of synch, and a simple refresh does the trick.
