Rick, just posted a thread about my first module. Look forward to meeting you and running a train on over your modules! http://www.trainboard.com/grapevine/showthread.php?153147-FreeMo-N-My-first-module
Been a couple weeks with no work done on module. Work and Jewish High Holidays took a lot of time. Started getting some of the station signage up, including some vintage posters for named trains of bygone eras. Also put in three CalTrain ticket machines. Got the fence installed on one wing of the platform, and light standards on that wing, the main entrance, and the parking lot. Plus, redid the parking lot to look a little less pristine vs what I did the day before the show.
It's really taking shape since the show. Very nice job on the ticket kiosk, fencing and yellow striping detail. Thanks for posting the update Rick!
Finished getting the platform railings installed on the middle(main) section of the station, plus all the the lights installed. The LED lighting is all wired, the 4 light stanchions in the parking lot are not LEDs, so I need to wire up another voltage regulator (they are 12V, while the LEDs are coming off of 9V). Here is a view looking down the tracks at the two lit platforms. While here is a view from across the freight bypass into the station. The two CalTrain ticket machines are clearly visible
Looking down on the entrance to the station. All I can say is that there is a LOT of railing, and I still have the two wings to do. Plus down the center. Here is a street level view from "across the street".
In addition to CalTrain, this station serves Amtrak, as well as excursion trains. "Ride the Trains of Yesteryear" the sign says, with vintage Daylight and Calif Zephyr posters A vintage SuperChief poster is on the side wall, along with another ticket machine I still need to add CalTrain system maps, and a few more signs
Very well done, yet again! Some really nice work on the lights and the posters..... and everything else!
Thanks, guys. Am going to start putting in the landscaping around the station this weekend, and some more details. Have to find the benches, maybe a mailbox or two, some figures etc. Not sure how many people I will scatter around the platforms.
That is what happens when you forget to reset the white balance setting on your DSLR. But it looks way cool. I did play with the light coming into the room to emulate dusk.
Started getting the landscaping plants in around the station this morning. That is all the work for this weekend, as we are off to celebrate our youngest's 21st.
I like it. The added posters, plantings, additional platforms and pavement makes an otherwise cold and stale structure much more interesting. Never mind the lights, railing, etc.... details.
It has been almost a month since I last posted an update status with new photos! We did take a week off, going to Mendocino, and even saw the Skunk but couldn't ride it due to schedule, and then got busy at work, but I didn't stop working when I could on the modules. Just kept puttering along and then realized I hadn't shared any progress. Sorry about these photos, my daughter has my good camera. This photo is of the roads and grade crossing at one end of the module. I plan to put a Burger King in at this corner, and then some Downtown Deco buildings along the street. Directly opposite the main station is a small park. The trees are just plopped for now, may change them, move them, etc. Will be adding playground equipment, finishing the fence. The locks and caboose are from the Hallmark speed train set. This is a close up of the grade crossing on the dirt service road, which accesses the area between the freight track and the back platform of the station
