Was rummaging through a box, and stumbled upon a couple of items I'd totally forgotten! Both are rarities. How could I be so careless? McCloud River Railroad employee timetable: Boxcab E50
Interesting reading material. The 1959 Consolidated Code Of Operating Rules. As used by many railroads in the western, and northwestern USA. Milw, GN, NP, SP&S, UP, etc. Boxcab E50
I have a set of table sheets from the CZ dinning cars but are abit hard to see the embossed CZ stitching. These are for sale if anyone interested?
Yikes, nice stuff, guys! And to think I'm having cold cereal for breakfast.. Those AOE menus sounded good! Jason, don't tempt me....
Honestly, I have no use for them, no place for them, and not a whole lotta moolah for them, but they are SOOOOO cool!!! Pics?
Was sitting here, looking at this item. Another favorite souvenir. Size is about one and one eights inch diameter. These were passed out to passengers on the various Hiawatha trains in at least the late 1950's: Boxcab E50
I just remembered a favorite piece of memorabilia I KNOW not many folks have--a piece of the only steam loco never retired (UP 844).. Before ya'll call up UP, lemme explain: when the 844 underwent a major boiler overhaul, the cab was rebuilt, and relined with new wood. Alaska GP49 here was the master woodworker who installed the cab interior lining. He graciously gave me a piece of the original lining, and it still smells of soot, smoke, fumes--all the stuff a normal steam loco smells like! It's my favorite piece, and a rare one at that! No pics, it got packed up with the movers..
Stuff picked up along railroad right of ways. Some of it I know what it is and some I don't. My favorited is the Santa Fe Route ball peen hammer.
Sometimes it's just fun to bring home an artifact. Probably totally useless. And will only be in the way. Yet it just feels right. Some broken glass shard. A broken, and rusty piece of steel. A souvenir from days gone by.... Boxcab E50
...Or sometimes just bring home a picture of the artifacts: This stuff was (is) laying all about the former townsite of Riordan, at the Arizona Divide. Lots of old glass, bricks, ceramics, and some ornate iron (from a stove?). I picked a bunch of this junk up, but then decided to leave it there and just snap a photo.
Some paperwork on building Texas Towers 161 and 162 on the Sugar Land Railroad. This was part of the Missouri Pacific in Texas.Texas Interlockers
My only "true" rr stuff is the ubiqetous rusty rr spike . I have one that was found along a right of way and one that was bought new at Steam Town in Vermont on my 18th birthday. I use both spikes as tack hammers and breaking ice on steps and such. //Note: Steam Town is now in PA.
This was a fun thread! Any chance we can revive it? Here is an old and rare annual pass from my collection: Boxcab E50
Here's some things special to me. The numberboards are from MILW 1000 & MILW 12 (GP30 & SD45 respectively). The large photo was given to me by a friend who worked for the Milwaukee. I heard it used to hang in their main Seattle office. It needs to be reframed but it's still in pretty good shape.
