I went back though the discussion awhile back entitled "Show Us Your Rosters" and I made a few observations. Some of the estimated numbers I completely pulled out of my..err....hat, so please don't be too critical! (I know, I really should get a life)

Of the almost 50 TrainBoard members that posted rosters, the complete TrainBoard total includes some 1,764 locomotives, which is more than most real railroads had on their roster. If we assumed an average of 2000 HP per loco, that would equal over 3 1/2 MILLION horsepower in real life.

In N-scale terms, if we assume an average locomotive length of 6", then our collective TrainBoard light consist would stretch 882 feet, or almost 27 scale miles!

And if we assumed a cost of $75 US per locomotive, our TrainBoard capital expenditures would reach a rather astounding sum of $132,300 US!!!

And my final observation is....WE NEED HELP!!!! :)

    Anyway, Happy Holidays to All!!!

    Regards,

Yes Alan, I'm stuck at the In-Laws and it's snowing so I can't go railfanning on BNSF's "Chicago Racetrack" that's just down the street! But I get to ride Metra to downtown Chicago on the 26th so I guess I'll survive...

Oh, and one other little tidbit.... The average Trainboard member has about 38 locomotives. Looks like I have some catching up to do!!! :D
