I will be in the Albany, NY area and would like to stop by the Selkirk CSX yard. Can anyone provide good viewing advice including where to park the car, public areas where you are allowed to film, etc. Would appreciate any info!
Well it's been a while since I've been down there (2003) but there are 4 bridges that cross the yard. One on either end and two over the yard. One in particular crosses between the locomotive facility and the hump, but has high barricades and narrow clearance so it is dicey to walk on. The south side of the bridge has some pretty decent views though. Just be careful because it is technically illegal to park on the approach to a bridge in NY, though I never had a problem.
