Somehow I am disappointed with the news [or lack of it] from the NMRA convention in Seattle. Only one new engine and some repaints. Maybe we will see more in Chantilly. But to my eyes it appears that the number of new products being announced has slowed quite a bit in the last year. I think Atlas has to make some announcement at Chantilly if nothing more than to announce the two new code 55 track pieces that they teased us with before the forum shut down.

I agree. Maybe, (all N manufacturers), they are holding back something for Chantilly. Although I had believed that a national convention for the NMRA might have held some importance?

Also, am still hoping to see some layout tour photos! There were some very good ones listed as being available.

Keep in mind that Atlas has gone to monthly announcements and has been making 4-6 each month. That is significant.

InterMountain also announces monthly and keeps increasing the number of announcements each month. They had 11 last month and 8 this month... in N scale alone.

I think releases are getting much more frequent from Atlas and InterMountain. It is Life Like, Kato, Bachman, etc., that are lagging.

I seen lots of neet NP stuff there. First there was a brass NP Z Class Challenger from one of the big brass guys, (I forgot their name) then Scott from GHQ was showing a resin and pewter NP 24' caboose kit as well as a Z-3 Class NP Malley.
Lots more N Scale NP stuff, but I forgot most of it since I was focusing on Z Scale stuff this show.

If anything, this was the showing of Laser Cut kits. Tons of companies offering laser cut this and that. There were even a couple guys who brought their lasers to the show, and were cutting business cards and kits as people watched. I feel like the laser has been played out now, and everyone I know has one in his garage... at least if you live in my area.

There were 4 Z Scale layouts on display, and many Z Scale offerings to choose from. We got 4 new locomotives this show. A plastic F59PHI, Brass F40PH, a plastic GG1, and old style 2-6-0.

    I had a good time.

I did take lots of convention photos, about 800 of them, but was so burnt out that I only took a few photos from the train show. Here is a few I posted already:

That little box motor looks cool! Was it running on live trolley?

I asked Ilona if it was live catenary but could not understand their response due to background noise. Just getting a photo was tough enough.

She gave me a catalog, but I cannot read German. They have 17 US bodystyles for cars and locomotives in Z!
