Recently, I received a request to help locate photos of a SAL caboose numbered 5683. I was wondering if there were any SAL cabooses numbered in that range, as I have been unable to find anything that says that they were. Is it possible that it was renumbered at some point in time?
Well, I found a site that says that the 5600 series only went up through 5649. But I also find a site with a vintage photo of 5677: http://hockinghillscaboose.com/ So, if it existed, I would expect it to be similar to that. An interesting duplex window arrangement.
"SAL cabs in series 5675-5699 were built by SAL Portsmouth shops from International kits in 1952." http://www.hosam.com/roads/acl.html#CAB Photo of SAL caboose 5692 (on the left) : http://www.rr-fallenflags.org/sal/sal5692.jpg Can anyone discern the roadnumber of the caboose on the right?
Thanks guys! That clears that mystery up for me. As for that caboose in the image, I can make out the first three digits, being 568.
