For those that may have not heard. Rod Vonbernuth (grande5771) passed away on July 23rd, condolences to his family and many friends. He was a very knowledgeable D&RGW entity. He shared his knowledge and passion for the D&RGW freely and with vision. He Also helped me with my HO scale modeling and knowledge. I will certainly miss his wit and friendship. Rest in peace George Rodney Vonbernuth.
I am filled with much sadness, I had lots of dealings with Rod. He helped me in my modeling so much with his knowledge and kindness. I did not even know he was ill. My thoughts and prayers.
Any indication as to how he passed? Looked for an obit, but didn't find one. Unless I'm looking on the wrong place!
Not too much info being released on it Keith. I didnt know he was sick. I talked to him a few times over the phone, he helped me with collecting some HO scale stuff, he traveled a lot for work. I havent seen him in a few years. He had been to my model RR building a few times over the years. I used to frequent his small store here in GJ almost daily. He had an amazing knowledge of all things Rio Grande, and an amazing image/memorabilia collection. His N scale collection was almost unbelievable. His passing has been a notable loss to the MRR/DRGW MRR community.
Pat Sanders posted a link to his obit so I thought I would share here https://www.tributearchive.com/obituaries/25445797/george-rodney-vonbernuth/wall
I got the notice via Pat Sanders email. I got in touch with Rod though this forum and he sold me a lot of N scale Trainworx models and a number of D&RGW Engines. He was a Trainworx dealer as well and I planned to do more business with him but got the sad news. Rod was a friendly guy and great to deal with. Condolences.
I saw Pat Sanders sad news a couple weeks ago. I actually got in touch with Rod in this forum and purchased quite a bit of N scale trains from him. Very sad and shocking to find out about his passing.
